Leading Economic Indicators Rise Again in July
New York, NY, Aug. 18, 2011 -- The Conference Board said its index of leading economic indicators rose 0.5% in July after an increase of 0.3% in June.
The small moves higher indicate that the country likely won’t fall back into recession.
“The economy is slow, with little momentum, and shows no indication of acceleration,” said Conference Board economist Ken Goldstein. He said it's likely the economy would grow at a modest pace this fall and winter.
Six of the 10 measures in the Conference Board’s index showed improvement.
