Lauzon Acquires Elizabethtown, New York Log Yard
Papineauville, Quebec, February 13, 2024-Lauzon Distinctive Hardwood is pleased to announce the signing of a strategic partnership to take over the operations of the Elizabethtown, New York log yard, previously operated by A. Johnson CO and the Johnson family of Vermont. Hardwood log buying and selling operations will resume in Q2 2024, reaching full potential early in Q3 2024.
This guarantees a constant supply of top-quality raw materials for the Thurso mill with a supply of greater quality roundwood and, at the same time, strengthens the sources of supply for its sawmill, especially for the species that are not as native to our Quebec province.
The Thurso plant, a central element of the production network, is benefiting from a significant investment of nearly $20 million over three years. The investment at the Thurso sawmill enhances the value of artificial intelligence technology.
Lauzon plays a crucial role in the local economy by providing employment for over 800 people. The company is poised to celebrate its 40th anniversary, and the Thurso sawmill is looking forward to marking its centennial in 2025.
