Korean Company To Produce Auto Carpet in Georgia

Columbus, GA, June 16, 2008--South Korean manufacturer DongNam Tech will open its first U.S. plant in Columbus, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, where it will produce carpeting and floor mats for several car companies, including Hyundai, General Motors, Nissan and Kia.

The $29 million plant will be managed by a subsidiary called DNT Georgia.

"Automotive suppliers are flocking to west Georgia in order to provide services to Kia and the other automakers in the Southeast," said Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue in a statement released last week.

DNT Georgia plans to start production by January 2009.
