Judges Named for 2007 Spectrim & Prism Awards

Alexandria, VA, February 16, 2007--A distinguished panel of judges will be deciding which winning entries will be sharing in the total $36,000 prize money that’s being presented at this year’s Spectrum and Prism Awards. The annual competitions for outstanding achievements in the use of, respectively, ceramic tile and natural stone, culminate when the winners are officially honored on April 17, as part of the opening ceremony for Coverings 2007.   The awards program has become a centerpiece of the annual exposition that is exclusively dedicated to all that’s new in tile and stone. Scheduled through April 20, at McCormick Place Convention Center, Chicago, IL, Coverings is the ultimate international experience as it brings 1,200 exhibitors from more than 65 countries under one roof.   Among those serving on this year’s panel are two seasoned design journalists:  Bill Weathersby, senior editor of Architectural Record, and Carolyn Weber, building editor of Home magazine. Other judges include representatives from Coverings’ sponsoring organizations: Christine Abbate, who, as head of Novita PR, represents Confindustria Ceramica (Italian Association of Ceramics); Peter Pentz, Executive Creative Director of White, Good & Co., on behalf of ASCER (Ceramic Tile Manufacturers Association of Spain); and, Bob Daniels, former deputy executive director, Tile Council of North America.   Additionally, Chris Walker, vice president, Port Morris Tile & Marble Corporation, will join the jury representing the Tile Contractors Association of America, on behalf of the National Tile Contractors Association.   “Year after year, the Spectrum and Prism Awards has grown in credibility and prestige, and it’s due in large part to the extraordinary caliber of the judges who bring a tremendous wealth of experience, perspective and integrity,” said Tamara Christian, CEO of National Trade Productions and show director for Coverings. “We are proud to incorporate the awards into the Coverings experience and help bring public recognition to some of the most ingenious and inspiring installations that feature use of the materials the show is all about—tile and stone.”    Submissions for the Spectrum and Prism awards must be received by Friday, February 23.
