John Hodgson of DFS' Maintenance Division Has Died

Los Angeles, CA, November 11, 2025-John Hodgson, founder of DFS Flooring's maintenance division, died November 7.

Hodgson started DFS Flooring's maintenance division around 1997 from zero employees to nearly 50 today.

Hodgson was one of the original Starnet Floor Care committee members in 2013.

Says Starnet's Eric Boender,

“John's email sign-off for many years ended with these two pieces of advice:

1. "Train your people well enough that they can leave. Treat them well enough that they don't want to."

2. ‘Life is not about how your weather the storm, but how you dance in the rain.’”
