Jobless Rate Improved and Payrolls Rose in July
Washington, DC, Aug. 5, 2011--Last month, the economy improved as 117,000 new jobs were added, following a 46,000 job increase in June, according to the Labor Department. In addition, hourly earnings rose by 0.4%.
As more Americans entered the job force, the unemployment rate fell to 9.1%.
Though the economy remains fragile, these statistics show the labor force continues to grow, easing concern that expansion had ceased.
