Jobless Claims Drop 19,000

Washington, DC, September 6, 2007—Jobless claims fell 19,000 to 318,000 in the week ending September 2, according to the Labor Department.

 

Economists had expected claims to fall 4,000 to 330,000.

 

The four-week average of initial claims rose 500 to 325,750.

 

The number receiving state jobless benefits rose 25,000 to 2.60 million in the week ending August. 25.
