J&J Industries Adjusts For Slow Economy
Dalton, GA, Jan. 19, 2009--J&J Industries isn't immune to the economic slowdown, CEO Jim Bethel told the Dalton Daily Citizen.
“Our business is down, and we are adjusting our work force accordingly,” Bethel said.
He said the company has cut about 50 jobs through retirement, attrition and cuts since the start of the year. J&J employs about 700 in the Dalton area.
“We are not eliminating any processes. We are not closing any plants or operations,” Bethel said. “We have been working some short time. That has probably been pervasive throughout the community.”
Carpet companies cut thousands of jobs in 2008 and the reductions are continuing this year.
