Italy wins European Team Floorlaying Competition a

Hannover, Germany, January 17, 2007--Italy, competing with teams from five other countries, wins first place in the European team floorlaying competition at Domotex. With nimble fingers and a great deal of expertise, the team from Italy carried off the prize against all comers. Not only did Florian Rottensteiner, Andreas Holzer and Christian Raffl thrill visitors at Domotex 2007 with their performance in the 4th European Team Floorlaying Competition in Hall 9--they also made the best impression on the jury. The winning team received their prize from Deutsche Messe Board member Stephan Ph. Kühne. Three-person teams from Austria, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, the Netherlands and Switzerland lined up at the start of the competition to display their skills in five floor-laying disciplines. "We had a great time, against very fair competitors, and we're very proud to be taking the title home with us", said Andreas Holzer from Italy, fresh from his/her triumph. The six teams were required to lay carpet, vinyl floor tiles, carpet tiles, linoleum and click-fit laminate flooring--all under the critical gaze of the jury. Each team's performance was judged on speed, precision and skill. The attraction for the spectators--apart from the excitement of experiencing a hard-fought sporting contest between talented professionals--was the chance to pick up one or two tricks of the trade for themselves. The team from Italy won for the second time. Last year's competition was also won by the Italian team, and before that teams from Great Britain carried off the trophy two years running. The European Team Floorlaying Competition always attracts a lot of interest and attention during the annual Domotex show, and now ranks as one of the acknowledged highlights of the leading international trade fair for carpets and floor coverings.
