Iran’s Handwoven Carpets Seeking Copyright Enforce

Tehran, Iran, May 23--The head of Iran’s National Carpet Center said a request was presented to the Minister of Commerce to stop worldwide design and color imitation of Iran’s rugs and carpets in general and exported ones in particular, according to IranMania. Speaking to Fars News Agency, Feyzollah Arab Sorkhi pointed out that the rug and carpet exporters would be getting subsidy in Germany’s Domotex Specialized Exhibition from 2003-2005 according to the plan implemented in Iran’s National Carpet Center for promotion and recognition in this field. Furthermore, he added, "There is going to be a budget allocated to take care of the expenses for Islamic Republic of Iran Carpet Exhibition in Paris in 2005." In connection to the facilities considered for the Persian rug and carpet weavers, he continued, "There are many financial facilities taken into account to be paid in forms of the insurance and 'easy' loans to support the actual doers in this industry." He also indicated "There have been many important projects implemented for domestic and international development of this industry of national treasure, and there are still more in hands." Arab Sorkhi continued that there would be assigned financial loans, of which advertising money in reputable media to support this industry, would be of least but not the last.
