Iran's Carpet Exports To Hit $500M by Next March

Tehran, Iran, July 13, 2010--The director of Iran National Carpet Center said the value of Iranian handmade carpets exports will reach $500 million annually by next March, according to the Tehran Times.

The Islamic Republic of Iran News Network quoted Fasil Moradesi as saying that in the past two months $56 million dollars worth of handmade carpets have been exported.

He stated that Italy, Germany, the UK, France, Switzerland, the U.S., Canada were the main export destinations, while Lebanon, the UAE, Kuwait, Russia Ukraine, and Japan were other places Iranian carpets were exported to.

He went on to say that by offering more competitive prices compared to Indian, Chinese and Pakistani carpets and adjusting the designs and color of the carpets to global demand Iran could increase its share in international markets,
