Iran’s Carpet Exports Plummet

Tehran, Iran, June 28--Hand-woven carpets plummeted from first place among Iran’s non–oil export commodities to fifth place, the Merh News Agency reported. Some 51 million dollars worth of hand-woven carpets were exported during March and April this year accounting for 82 percent of the country’s total handicrafts exports with some 62.7 million dollars worth of various types of handicrafts exported during the same period. Iran’s total handicrafts exports in volume currently being 4.1,000 tons, showed a 26.5 percent drop as compared with that of the same period last year.
