Iran Set To Export $53B in Non-Oil Products

Tehran, Iran, August 24--Iran's Deputy Commerce Minister and Head of Export Promotion Organization Mojtaba Khosrowtaj said this week that based on the fourth development plan, the revenue of the non-oil goods to be exported within the framework of the plan is predicted at US$53 billion, according to Asia Pulse. Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of 14th Tehran Hand-Woven Carpet Exhibition, he added that according to the five-year plan, US$8.5 billion worth of non-oil products are expected to be exported within the current Iranian year (ending March 20). The 14th Hand-Woven Carpet Exhibition opened at the premises of Tehran International Fairgrounds and will continue for one week. Putting the annual value of the exported non-oil products by the end of the fourth development plan at US$12.8 billion, he said that the annual growth rate of non-oil goods to be exported during the five-year plan is predicted to reach 10.7 per cent. Concerning the present standing of exporters of carpet, he noted that currently there is no obstacle facing them and that they can present their carpets on international markets. "The government's supportive policy towards export of non-oil goods over the past years has reinforced the carpet industry," he added. The deputy minister referred to the three per cent export award given to carpet exporters over the recent years and added that the same was granted to participants of the present exhibition. The official said that development of the potential to raise the potential for handling cargo up to 110 million tons during the five-year plan is another objective predicted in line with development of non-oil exports.
