Invista Reaches Agreement With Union

Waynesboro, VA, Feb. 23, 2009--Invista and the United Workers Inc. union have reached a tentative contract agreement that would keep more workers on the job in Waynesboro.

The company says the deal, which took three months to negotiate, will allow Invista workers to replace contractors.

Invista is in the final stages of laying off 210 workers at its Waynesboro plant as part of an idling of its nylon facility.

United Workers Inc. says the deal extends the union's contract until 2012 and provides increased protection for its workers. The workers still have to vote on the contract.
