Invista Opens New Control Center In UK Facility

Middlesbrough, UK, Dec. 10--The completion of a £4m investment at a Teesside chemical plant is helping to safeguard the jobs of 350 people according to the Business Daily. A new North area control center has been opened at Invista's nylon intermediates facility at Wilton. Containing cutting edge technology, it controls the nitric acid plant, which provides feedstock for the manufacture of nylon polymer and nylon intermediates. In 2004 it will also assume control of the operations on the ketone alcohol plant, once a £30m modernisation project is complete. No jobs are being created, but the investment will safeguard the future of the facility's 350 workers. Since 1993 £290m has been spent upgrading Invista's Wilton plants.
