Invista Making $65M Investment in Nylon 6,6 Fiber Production
Wichita, KS, May 11, 2017-Invista is investing over $65 million in state-of-the-art fiber production equipment at its U.S.-based Camden, South Carolina facility.
This investment will expand capacity of Nylon 6,6 fiber used in a diverse range of applications.
Importantly, this investment will significantly increase domestic U.S. capacity of high-tenacity, specialty fibers used in Cordura fabrics. These durable fabrics offer valuable solutions in military applications such as bags, backpacks and ballistic vest carriers as well as a wide variety of commercial end-uses from hiking boots to hunting gear, workwear to motorcycle, and many other outdoor and lifestyle apparel and equipment products.
The new assets will also be capable of manufacturing bulked continuous filament and high-quality fibers for airbags and industrial sewing threads.
