Interprint CEO Holds Groundbreaking

Pittsfield, NY, October 21 -- The cold and the rain didn't keep people away Tuesday morning as Interprint, Inc. CEO Bill Hines held the groundbreaking of his company's new $23 million, 135,000 square foot facility on Route 41 in Pittsfield according to Capital News 9. Hines said the new plant is the largest single capital investment in the history of the company, which also has manufacturing sites in Germany, Poland, Malaysia and China. Hines, who was also tapped by Pittsfield Mayor Jim Ruberto to head the Jobs for Pittsfield campaign, also plans to see a 25 percent increase in employment as they make the transition into the new plant. Hines said, "These are well paying manufacturing jobs that we pride ourselves at being successful so that our employees can provide a nice comfortable lifestyle for their families." However, members of a local trades union, who had assembled at the entrance to the new site as the ceremony ended, feel jobs need to be kept local even during construction. John Kelly of Berkshire Count Building Trades said, "We're out here in support of local jobs for local people in the area of Berkshire County and throughout the region." Interprint is considered one of the world leaders in the manufacture of decor paper that is used as the surface layer in laminates for countertops, cabinets, office furniture and flooring.
