International Floors Finishing Two Large Projects
Florence, AL, July 28, 2008--International Floors Inc., makers of Centiva, is finishing two its largest projects ever for Boston University and a hospital suite in Bahrain.
"One (project) is 18,000 square feet and has 6,000 pieces," Thomas Trissl, president and owner, told the Times Daily newspaper.
"The second project covers 8,000 square feet and has probably that many pieces."
The projects are unique in design, with a variety of colors and shapes mixed and blended together.
The large, 18,000-square-foot project will be placed in the food court at Boston University. The 8,000-square-foot project will will be placed in the hospital suite of the king and queen of Bahrain.
Trissl said the projects are designed and manufactured at the Florence plant.
"Then all of the pieces are put together, just like a puzzle," Garth Gaffney, the company's technical director, told the newspaper.
Trissl said each piece is cut with an ultrasonic cutting knife.
He said the company, which has been in business since 1996, has done other large projects, but these are two of the most "unique."
