St. Louis, December 14--Nexicor, inventor of SINCH Carpet Seaming Technology, and the International Standards and Training Alliance (INSTALL) are teaming to train apprentices and journeymen on the use of KoolGlide, a new carpet seaming system recently developed by Nexicor.
INSTALL is the floor covering installation training program of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters.
KoolGlide is a patented carpet seaming system that is simpler to use than hot irons and that allows 100 percent reversible repairs. The system approaches seam rework or repair from on top of the carpet, resulting in significant savings in materials and labor.
"INSTALL is always looking to advance the industry, improve safety and keep our professionals on the cutting edge of installation methods," said Jim Schmid, director of INSTALL. "KoolGlide is growing in popularity and use, and it’s important to make sure our mechanics are proficient with it."
Nexicor donated ten units of the seaming system to the Carpenters International Training Fund in Las Vegas, Nevada. The units will be distributed on a loaner basis to UBC training centers throughout North America. UBC training officials at the Carpenters International Training Fund and Nexicor also will team to develop a training curriculum specific to the use of KoolGlide. Training will include use of the system for carpet installation, health and safety issues for installers, and environmental friendliness.
"We are very pleased that INSTALL is taking the lead in training craftsmen in the latest technology. Training with the SINCH system is already being conducted by major carpet manufacturers. They have found that new installs, repairs and rework are now simple, clean and of a superior quality," says Rob Rothfuss, Nexicor’s vice president of sales and marketing.
"We have now begun volume production on the KoolGlide system, which means that installers everywhere can take advantage of its unparalleled cost-effectiveness, its ability to reduce recalls and its ease of use."
