INSTALL Gets Sports Artificial Surface Training
Chicago, IL, February 25, 2008 –Three INSTALL regions converged at the Chicago Regional Carpenters Training Center in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, for installation training in sports and recreation artificial surfaces February 11-15.
INSTALL, The International Standards and Training Alliance, is the floor covering program of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America (UBC), and is endorsed by 50 major mills and manufacturers in the flooring industry.
International Sport Surfaces, Inc., (ISS, Inc.) a signatory contractor to the UBC that completes both indoor and outdoor sports surfaces such as the varsity soccer field at Northwestern University, sponsored the training.
About 30 members of INSTALL Chicago attended, as well as UBC instructors Todd Sandy from INSTALL Michigan and Craig Rosala from INSTALL Ohio. The Chicago Regional Council spent $18,000 on material and $4,000 on additional training expenses.
Many aspects of the installation process, including cutting of the material, shearing, cutting and gluing numbers, sewing machine operation and hot glue methods were introduced and examined.
