Initial Jobless Claims Rose by 5,000 in Week Ending May 23
Washington, DC, May 28, 2026-In the week ending May 23, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 215,000, an increase of 5,000 from the previous week's revised level, according to the Department of Labor.
The previous week's level was revised up by 1,000 from 209,000 to 210,000. The four-week moving average was 209,000, an increase of 6,250 from the previous week's revised average. The previous week's average was revised up by 250 from 202,500 to 202,750.
