Initial Jobless Claims Rose by 11,000 in Week Ending August 16
Washington, DC, August 21, 2025-In the week ending August 16, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 235,000, an increase of 11,000 from the previous week's unrevised level of 224,000, according to the Department of Labor.
The four-week moving average was 226,250, an increase of 4,500 from the previous week's unrevised average of 221,750.
