Initial Jobless Claims Rose by 11,000 in Week Ending April 8
Washington, DC, April 13, 2023-In the week ending April 8, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 239,000, an increase of 11,000 from the previous week's unrevised level of 228,000, according to the Department of Labor.
This is the highest level for initial claims since January 15, 2022 when it was 251,000. The four-week moving average was 240,000, an increase of 2,250 from the previous week's unrevised average of 237,750. This is the highest level for this average since November 20, 2021, when it was 249,250.
