Initial Jobless Claims Rise Less Than Expected
Washington, DC, Sept. 25, 2014 -- New claims for state unemployment benefits rose less than expected last week, according to the Labor Department.
Initial claims fincreased 12,000 to a seasonally adjusted 293,000 for the week ended Sept.20.
Claims for the prior week were revised to show 1,000 more applications received than previously reported.
Economists had forecast claims increasing to 300,000 last week.
The four-week moving average of claims fell 1,250 to 293,500.
