Initial Jobless Claims Rise Last Week

Washington, DC, Feb. 13, 2014 -- Initial jobless claims rose by 8,000 to a seasonally adjusted 339,000 in the week ended Feb. 8, the Labor Department said.

That was slightly higher than the 330,000 expected by economists.

The average of new claims over the past month rose by 3,500 to 336,750.
