Initial Jobless Claims Fell Again Last Week

Washington, DC, Dec. 23, 2010 -- Initial jobless claims fell by 3,000 last week, according to the Labor Department.

Also, the number of people on unemployment benefit rolls dropped to a two-year low.

First-time claims declined to 420,000 in the week ended Dec. 18, matching economists' expectations.

Economists' estimates ranged from 400,000 to 430,000. The Labor Department revised the prior week’s figure up to 423,000.
