Initial Jobless Claims Fall
Washington, DC, Sept. 1, 2011 -- Initial claims for unemployment benefits fell last week but still remained above the key 400,000 level, according to the Labor Department.
Claims fell by 12,000 to a seasonally adjusted 409,000 in the week ended Aug. 27. Claims filed in the previous week were revised to 421,000 from an originally reported 417,000.
The four-week moving average of new claims rose by 1,750 to 410,250.
