Initial Jobless Claims Down 10,000 in Week Ending May 11

Washington, DC, May 16, 2024- In the week ending May 11, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 222,000, a decrease of 10,000 from the previous week's revised level, according to the Department of Labor. 

The previous week's level was revised up by 1,000 from 231,000 to 232,000. The four-week moving average was 217,750, an increase of 2,500 from the previous week's revised average. The previous week's average was revised up by 250 from 215,000 to 215,250.
