Initial Jobless Claims Declined by 2,000 in Week Ending May 17

Washington, DC, May 22, 2025-In the week ending May 17, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 227,000, a decrease of 2,000 from the previous week's unrevised level of 229,000, according to the Department of Labor. 

The four-week moving average was 231,500, an increase of 1,000 from the previous week's unrevised average of 230,500.
