Infinity Reenergizes Tarkett’s Sheet Goods

Whitehall, PA, August 17--Since its relatively recent launch in April of 2004, Tarkett has been very pleased by the success of its new flagship line of resilient sheet flooring, Infinity. The product’s increased thickness, natural styling, TruTex™ Innovative Surfacing and WearGuard™ wearlayer offer homeowners exceptional durability, as well as high-fashion designs that mirror the look of wood, linen, cork, and natural stones and slate. “The success of Infinity confirms that there continues to be an eager marketplace looking for high quality and fashionable resilient flooring,” says Jan Lembregts, president, Tarkett Residential. “Infinity offers consumers exceptionally realistic replicas of natural materials like natural stone, slate and even linen, but with the economical pricing, durability and limited maintenance that only resilient flooring can provide”. At 105 mils, Infinity is the thickest felt-backed product in the Tarkett portfolio and among the thickest in the resilient industry, providing an increased level of durability. “Our customers have really responded to the thickness of Infinity; they like something sturdy underfoot,” says Simon Yoder of Hochstetler Floors. “Plus, its premium finish makes it less coarse and ‘satiny’ than some competitor products. The thickness, the finish, and the great designs have all contributed to the fact that, at Hochstetler Floors, sales of Infinity are soaring while sales of competitor products are declining.” The initial launch of Infinity was made up of nine patterns, including: Stratford, Stonebridge, Venice, Hampshire, Kingsport, Townsend, Westbury, Medley Cork and Avenue. The patterns are offered in 42 colors. One additional pattern, Grand Square, in six colorways, will be introduced as part of the Tarkett Resilient fall introduction package. The Stratford, Stonebridge, Venice and Hampshire patterns are treated with TruTex Innovative Surfacing, which offers an exceptionally realistic replication of textures, grout, glazed ceramic tile, quarry stone, tumbled marble, and granite, without the expense or maintenance problems of actual stone and tile. “Infinity is a great innovation on Tarkett’s part in terms of styling,” says John Chaney, vice president, sales, CDC Distributors. “Our dealers have remarked that Infinity’s designs are the most inventive motifs to have come out of Tarkett in many years. As a result, they are relying more and more on Tarkett when they need to stock products with high-end, high design appeal.” Lembregts adds, “Resilient continues to be a very strong category. With innovative products such as Infinity being marketed today, this flooring category will continue to be an important option for the consumer.” Infinity retails for approximately $2.75 - $3.00 per square foot and is available through Tarkett distributors and specialty flooring retailers.
