Dalton, GA, Apr. 1--James E. Brown, the founder of Brown Printing and Brown Industries, died at his home Tuesday after a battle with cancer. He was 76.
In 1958 Brown founded The Brown Printing Company, the Dalton-based producer of printed materials and merchandising systems for the floorcovering industry.
In 1970, Brown Printing and four other related area companies merged in an agreement with National Service Industries, Inc., forming the Marketing Services Division of NSI. Brown served as chairman and CEO of the unit for 20 years until 1990.
Services are scheduled for Friday, April 2 at 4:00 at the First Methodist Church of Dalton. A private grave service will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Dalton State College Foundation.
