Indian Rugs Recalled

Washington, DC, October 15, 2007--About 2,900 "Alyssa" shag rugs, manufactured in India and imported by J.C. Penney Co., were recalled because the rugs fail to meet federal standards for flammability and could ignite, posing a risk of burn injuries to consumers.

No injuries or incidents have been reported.

The rugs were sold in the J.C. Penney catalog and website from June through August 2007.
