Jan. Import Prices Down Overall, but Consumer Goods Import Prices Up 0.2%
Washington, DC, February 17, 2023-U.S. import prices decreased 0.2% in January following a revised 0.1% drop the previous month, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported.
However, consumer goods prices advanced in January, increasing 0.2%, after ticking up 0.1% in December.
Prices for U.S. exports advanced 0.8% in January, after falling 3.2% in December with prices for consumer goods advancing at the same rate, the largest one-month increase since a 0.8% rise in March 2022.
