IICRC Expands Curriculum

Vancouver, WA, Dec. 3, 2002--The Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (www.iicrc.org) has enhanced its examination programs for certification to adjust to its ongoing growth as a leading authority in inspection, cleaning and restoration. The IICRC Exams Committee has spent many hours researching exam programs in order to develop a complete criterion referenced certification program. In addition to the exam writing, the program development will also include a job task analysis (expanded curriculum), editing and reviewing, field testing, analysis and reporting of the results, and complete documentation of the entire process. Scoring of all IICRC exams is computer based. “I am very excited to be able to help the IICRC with their exams program,” said Deborah Campbell, vice president of DNA Floor Surgeons and IICRC examination chairperson. “Education is crucial to the advancement of an individual’s career. Even though hands on experience is also needed, certification through this improved exam process will give IICRC registrants a leading edge on their competition as well as a better understanding of the fundamentals of the cleaning, restoration or inspection process.” Two of the main goals of the IICRC examination are to provide an objective and consistent method of measuring competence and to ensure the qualifications of technical professionals. Through a qualifying test such as the IICRC exam, certified professionals are better able to validate and gauge their knowledge or skill.
