IFMA and Milliken Celebrate Long-Standing Partnership

“For over 20 years Milliken Contract has consistently dedicated time, energy, and resources along with active members to support our association, the IFMA Foundation and the facility management profession at the local, national and global levels,” said IFMA Vice President Linda Beverly.
Growth & Influence. Since this mutually beneficial partnership began, Milliken’s involvement has reflected the organization’s expansion in membership and influence. An estimated 5,000 attendees are expected at the 2006 World Workplace (WWP) to keep abreast of new products and facility management strategies—an exponential increase from 47 in 1980.
To foster chapter growth, Milliken created an annual internal award for the individual within the company who has contributed to the growth of IFMA at the local, national or international level. The 2006 recipient will be announced in the Milliken Booth on Sunday, October 8, at World Workplace. Milliken associates participate in local chapters across the U.S., as well as in Europe and the Asia Pacific. The company has hosted board retreats, chapter meetings and events at South Carolina and Georgia facilities, as well as supporting international conferences. Milliken associates serve on the Board of Trustees and in other significant leadership roles.

Education. Milliken has worked with two partners to create a more informed marketplace around sustainable issues at WWP. IFMA and the Alliance for Sustainable Built Environments collaborated to launch the Green Zone and a dedicated sustainability education track for World Workplace. As a founding member of the Alliance, Milliken was instrumental in developing the eight-session track offering insight into topics such as the costs and benefits of sustainability, how to acquire organizational support for "greening" existing facilities, and LEED™.
