IFDA-New York Honors Designers for Sustainable Des

New York, NY, November 2, 2005--For their outstanding contributions toward sustainable design, six design-industry leaders will be honored by the New York Chapter of the International Furnishings and Design Association (IFDA) with induction into the organization’s prestigious Circle of Excellence. The honorees, ranging from designers and manufacturers to publishers, will be feted at a November 8 awards gala in the newly restored Hudson Theatre in the Millennium Broadway Hotel in New York. Daniel R. Tishman will serve as emcee for the evening. Tishman is chairman & chief executive officer of Tishman Construction Corporation and fourth-generation owner and president of Tishman Realty & Construction Co., Inc., which, combined, comprise one of the nation’s largest and most active builders and developers. In making this year’s selections, IFDA focused on contributions to the aesthetic aspects of environmentally friendly design. In recognition of their achievements, each honoree will receive a handmade crystal award from Baccarat, to be presented at the gala. This year’s winners include: Judith Jedlicka is president of Business Committee for the Arts, Inc. and an internationally recognized authority on business-arts alliances. She is the co-author of The Art of Leadership, Business Alliances Within the Arts and past president of the National Corporate Fund for Dance, Inc. Chicago-based L. C. Williams & Associates, a public relations and research counseling firm specializing in the home products industry, will handle publicity for this year’s event. Founded in 1947, IFDA is a worldwide professional alliance of leaders representing the diverse industries that constitute the universe of residential and commercial furnishings and design. It is the only all-industry association whose members provide services and products to the furnishings and design industry.
