State College, PA, August 16-- Can better hospital design prevent medical errors and help patients recover quicker?
According to the Centre Daily Timers, the Center for Health Design of Concord, Calif., which has been pushing the hospital industry to create more healing environments, said its analysis of more than 600 research studies proves hospital design can improve patient outcomes.
Patient satisfaction and quality of sleep both improved at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, Idaho, when a unit was renovated to make rooms private. Carpet was put in hallways along with acoustical tiles on walls and ceilings. Machinery also was moved away from patients.
