China, Dec. 17--Honeywell International Inc. has launched a series of business and investment plans, targeting China's nylon carpet market. It’s another big move for the firm following its acquisition of Zefron.
On a sales promotion conference call in Beijing held on December 12, James Charstine, Chief Executive Officer of Business for Honeywell in the Asian-Pacific Region, said he is confident in promoting nylon carpet sales in China. Charstine worked for BASF Nylon and had been promoted CEO after the merger.
Statistics show nylon carpets have a big marketshare in many developed countries. For instance, the number is 61 to 62 percent in America, 35 percent in Japan, but less than ten percent in China.
It is estimated that by 2005 the demand for nylon carpet in China will rise to 50 million square meters, which equals a 30 percent increase each year.
Charstine said the company would continue to cooperate with former BASF partners in China, such as Shanghai Shanhua Carpet Company and Shanghai Worldbest Carpet Company.
