Honeywell Increases Residential and Commercial Fib

Charlotte, NC, July 8—Honeywell has announced a price increase of five cents per pound ($0.05/lb) over the current price of residential and commercial bcf fiber and fiber-grade resins and three cents per pound ($0.03/lb) on all staple fiber products from Honeywell Nylon LLC, effective August 1, 2004. The company is also announcing other price increases on textiles, specialty polymers and certain chemical intermediates. Unforeseen global tightness of benzene supply caused by unplanned outages has ramped up benzene prices to new record levels. Benzene is a key petrochemical feedstock to nylon production. “This sharp rise in the price of benzene has dramatically impacted raw material costs for nylon products,” said Walter W. Hubbard, President, Honeywell Nylon. “This has forced us to re-evaluate our pricing for all of our products.”
