Honeywell Adds Recycled Content to its Zeftron Com

Dalton, GA, Apr. 26--Honeywell announced the launch of a new environmental initiative in which Zeftron-branded products bearing the Enviro6ix logo are guaranteed to contain a minimum of 25 percent recycled content. Developed in direct response to the need for premium branded yarn systems with greater styling versatility containing significant amounts of recycled content for the commercial interiors marketplace, the initiative enables customers specifying carpet with Zeftron nylon to choose from products with third-party certified recycled content across all three of Zeftron’s product lines--Zeftron Select, Zeftron Solure and Zeftron Savant. “Enviro6ix evolved from a unique combination of technological advancements and collaboration with our mill partners into an innovative solution to meet a need for more sustainable products,” said Tim Blount, manager of commercial marketing products for Honeywell Nylon. “This announcement from Honeywell Nylon is another indication that building-related industries are aware of the increasing market demand for building products and services that incorporate environmental stewardship,” said Rick Fedrizzi, founder and president of Green-Think, LLC, an environmentally focused consulting firm providing marketing and communications services for the residential and commercial built environments. Fedrizzi, who is also founding chairman of the U.S. Green Building Council and president of the World Green Building Council continued, “Building owners, designers and architects can now request recycled content throughout Zefton’s entire product line, which gives them more options in their specifications. Overall, it’s a great situation given the introduction of the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) commercial interiors and existing building programs later this year.” Through its Zeftron branded products, Honeywell Nylon is the only fiber producer to offer such an extensive collection of commercial carpet yarn products, including 55 solution-dyed colors and multiple yarn dyeable configurations, certified to contain no less than 25 percent recycled content. “Although the initial Enviro6ix yarn system was first introduced in 1997, this new initiative represents the ongoing evolution of the Zeftron brand in the development of innovative product offerings,” said Blount. “What’s more, it further underscores Honeywell Nylon’s commitment to developing tangible recycling and sustainability solutions for the interior commercial marketplace.” The Enviro6ix designation for this collection of Zeftron products has received third-party certification by the industry-leading certification organization, Scientific Certification Systems (SCS). SCS has also certified Honeywell Nylon’s 6ix Again Carpet Recycling Program, its Nylon 6ix depolymerization unit in Canada and its Zeftron Savant, which contains the highest amount of recycled content in the industry, including 25 percent post-consumer recycled content.
