Fort Worth, TX, January 12--D.R. Horton Inc., the largest homebuilder in the United States, said sales in its fiscal 2005 first quarter rose 31 percent.
The company said sales orders for the quarter ended Dec. 31 rose to $2.66 billion, or 9,901 homes, compared to $2.03 billion, or 8,234 homes, in the year-ago period. Sales grew in all regions, particularly the Mid-Atlantic, where sales rose to $276.9 million, or 1,037 homes, from $166.7 million, or 715 homes, and the Southeast, where sales increased to $410.6 million, or 1,759 homes, from $251.6 million, or 1,173 homes.
D.R. Horton delivered more than 43,000 homes in the fiscal year ended Sept. 30.
