New York, NY, June 28, 2011 -- U.S. home prices rose for the first time in eight months with a 0.7% increase, according to the S&P/Case-Shiller home price gauge released Tuesday.

However, the year-on-year decline was 4%, the most in 17 months, and roughly in line with consensus expectations.
