Home Prices Flat in March Compared to February
New York, NY, May 29, 2012 -- U.S. house prices were unchanged in March from the previous month, breaking a streak of five consecutive declines, according to the S&P/Case-Shiller 20-city composite index.
Prices remained at a post-recession low and have fallen 2.6% over the last year.
Only seven cities in the 20-city index reported declines, compared to 16 in the prior month. Twelve cities saw an increase in prices.
Since the housing crisis begin in late 2006, prices have fallen by about 35% from their peak, Case-Shiller said. Prices are now at levels last seen in mid-2002.
