Home Depot to Sell Ads on its Web Site

Atlanta, Ga, July 18, 2006--Home Depot said it will sell advertising on its Web site, homedepot.com. With demand for online media soaring, homedepot.com will offer select vendor partners the chance to reach more than 4 million consumers each week with content targeted to the home improvement customer. "Advertising on homedepot.com is a new offering in the online landscape," said Harvey Seegers, president of Home Depot Direct. "Our goal is to allow a few key vendor partners the opportunity to educate millions of home improvement consumers about their distinctive and innovative products." Homedepot.com already has a number of partners signed on to advertise online, including Moen Incorporated. "Advertising on homedepot.com gives us the opportunity to highlight features of our new faucets and finishes to The Home Depot customers who are looking to remodel or replace their kitchen or bath fixtures," said Kelly Atkins, director of marketing at Moen Incorporated. "We see it as just one more way that The Home Depot continues to provide its customers with the information they need." When consumers click on the ads on homedepot.com, they will enter an advertiser's branded site. They will experience interactive demos, streaming video, and in-depth product content that will increase the customer's knowledge and level of engagement. With over 2.5 billion page views annually, homedepot.com receives more traffic than any other online destination in the home and garden category. In addition, advertisers will be able to buy ads in homedepot.com's various email newsletters, which have over 6 million opt-in subscribers. More information on the program can be found at www.homedepot.com/advertise. Homedepot.com is a part of Home Depot Direct, a direct-to-consumer division that is a critical element of the company's plans to extend its business into new channels. Re-launched in 2003, with an expanded "know-how" section, improved functionality and enhanced online capabilities, homedepot.com offers more than 25,000 home improvement and decor items that can be shipped directly to the customer's door.
