Home Depot Runs Tax Refund Promotion

Atlanta, GA, Apr. 2--The Home Depot is encouraging homeowners to invest their tax refund checks into their homes with a special incentive. Customers can take advantage of the offer by exchanging their full tax refund check for a Home Depot gift card and receive a 5% discount off a single purchase in the store. This first-time offer will be available to customers from April 1 to 21. "We are pleased to be able to offer our customers an added incentive to invest their tax refund in their homes," said John Costello, executive vice president of merchandising and marketing at The Home Depot. The IRS reports that the average tax refund is approximately $2,151, and a consumer survey reports the average annual home-improvement budget is nearly $3,400. Costello noted, "Consumers can cover a large part of their entire annual home improvement budget with their tax refund checks." As temperatures rise, outdoor projects, such as a deck addition or enhancement, will become more popular. These types of outdoor projects can improve living spaces and add to the resale value of a home. Home Depot offers a new deck design software tool that helps the consumer design the layout and develop a list of materials and tools needed. Even simple projects like painting, changing out kitchen cabinetry and hardware or adding new flooring or countertops can have a significant effect on resale value. Tax refund checks can be exchanged in the store at the Special Services desk, where customers will receive a Home Depot gift card for the refund amount, and a special coupon to save 5% off a single purchase. The maximum discount is $200 and coupons are valid through July 31. The Home Depot tax refund incentive is available in U.S. Home Depot stores only and excludes EXPO Design Center. Some product exclusions may apply and the coupon cannot be used with other discounts.
