Atlanta, GA, September 9--Home Depot will open Manhattan's largest home improvement store tomorrow morning, bringing 105,000 square feet of distinctive merchandise and expert advice from 300 associates to the borough's residents.
Located at 23rd Street between Fifth and Sixth Avenues, the multi-level store will offer a range of innovative products, daily how-to clinics, same-day delivery and a full-time concierge. Mayor Bloomberg and The Home Depot's chairman, president & CEO, Bob Nardelli, have planned a board-cutting ceremony this evening for community representatives, and tomorrow at 7 a.m. the world's largest home improvement retailer opens for business in Manhattan.

Based on extensive research, the company customized its new store to fit the needs and interests of Manhattan residents and has established product category leadership in a number of areas. Customers will find nine paint- mixing stations, the broadest selection of decorative cabinet hardware in the city and high-end appliances like GE Monogram. A specialized showroom will help customers visualize complete home improvement projects while working closely with design experts to plan and realize their dreams.
The new store will offer tool rental with delivery and pick up throughout Manhattan and an expanded key-making and locksmith service. Free how-to clinics will be offered three times each day in a state-of-the-art learning area that includes plasma screens. In addition, kiosks located throughout the store will enable customers to identify projects and print step-by-step instructions and a list of needed project materials. Store hours are from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Sundays.
As part of its commitment to the Manhattan community, The Home Depot has partnered with New York Cares, an organization dedicated to providing hands-on volunteer service to New Yorkers in need. Through the partnership, The Home Depot will provide supplies, services and know-how necessary to complete a series of volunteer projects in Manhattan, including New York Cares Day and several garden and field refurbishment projects. In addition, the company has an ongoing relationship with Girls, Inc., an organization dedicated to the empowerment and education of young women.
The Home Depot currently operates 14 stores with approximately 3,900 associates in the New York boroughs and plans to open an additional Manhattan store in the Midtown area later this year.
