Home Depot Makes Marketing Push to Women
New York, NY, Jan. 31, 2011 -- Home Depot is making an aggressive push to market to women through the Martha Stewart brand, according to a story in the New York Times.
Nearly all Martha Stewart Living products carry an icon, like a moon or a star, so a buyer can assemble a coordinating living room or match pieces for a Martha-approved bath by selecting from a single line of stickers.
“Fifty percent of our customers are female. We need to offer her products that she wants,” a company spokesman told the Times. The story indicated that Home Depot is putting an emphasis on smaller home remodeling projects.
Home Depot said it is battling the perception that home centers primarily cater to men.
