Home Depot Canada to Open 11 Stores in 11 Weeks

Toronto, Ontario, November 3, 2005--Home Depot Canada said it will expand its store base rapidly over the next 11 weeks, adding a million square feet of retail space and an estimated 1,300 new jobs to the Canadian economy by January 2006. Today, Home Depot Canada operates 126 stores and employs more than 26,000 associates nationwide. "Our growth over the next few weeks is symbolic of the strong consumer demand and brand acceptance for The Home Depot in Canada," said Annette Verschuren, president of The Home Depot Canada and EXPO Design Center. The company has already opened the following nine stores in fiscal 2005: St. Jerome, PQ Vaureuil-Dorion, PQ Chatham, ON St. John's, Nfld Woodstock, ON Windsor, ON Toronto, ON Spruce Grove, AB Brockville, ON Home Depot will soon open in the following communities: Calgary AB (SE) November 2005 102,000 sq. ft Granby, QC November 2005 95,000 sq. ft Winnipeg, MB (SW) November 2005 95,000 sq. ft Guelph, ON November 2005 80,000 sq. ft Victoriaville, QC December 2005 80,000 sq. ft St. Albert, AB December 2005 80,000 sq. ft Sherbrooke, QC December 2005 95,000 sq. ft Saint John, NB January 2006 95,000 sq. ft Victoria, BC (Saanich) January 2006 80,000 sq. ft Calgary, AB (Beacon Hill) January 2006 102,000 sq. ft Milton, ON January 2006 80,000 sq. ft "We're growing in every part of this glorious country, adding a million square feet of retail space to our existing network," added Verschuren. The company has also been investing in its existing network of stores. In fact, today was the grand opening of the newly relocated store in the Southwest section of London, Ontario. "This is the first relocation for the company in Canada and represents just a small portion of what we're doing to reinvigorate and refresh our stores across the country," said Verschuren.
