Home Depot & This Old House Expand Partnership

Atlanta, GA, May 10--Home Depot today announced the launch of the "This Old House" Video Library, a new online channel available through www.homedepot.com that features instructional advice on home-related projects delivered via streaming videos. This video tutorial offering is part of an expanded multi-platform marketing partnership between Home Depot and "This Old House," the number one multi-media home enthusiast brand. The partnership includes a three-year category exclusive commitment for the Emmy award-winning public television show "This Old House" and the Emmy nominated "Ask This Old House," as well as commitments in print and the Internet. "Integrating new media channels with traditional advertising allows us to forge a more meaningful relationship with our customers," said John Costello, executive vice president of merchandising and marketing for The Home Depot. "The 'This Old House' video library is a powerful and immediate alternative to traditional content delivery." The "This Old House" Video Library, available 24 hours a day, features more than 60 streaming videos covering everything from fixing a leaky faucet to installing a drip irrigation system or freeing a paint-stuck window. To access the video library, go to www.homedepot.com and select "Video Center" from the pull down menu under the "Know How" section. Each video tutorial includes a printable list of required tools and materials, along with expanded explanations of the key steps shown for each project. Links to related videos in the "This Old House" Video Library provide viewers a wide range of additional ideas, resources and step-by-step instructions. "The Web is clearly established as one of the first places consumers turn for advice on home-related projects," said Shelley Nandkeolyar, vice president of e-Business for The Home Depot. "The new video library allows us to bring a range of expert advice directly into a consumer's home to use whenever they need it most." In addition to underwriting the "This Old House" branded television shows and exhibiting the Internet video library, Home Depot will continue to have a strong advertising presence in each issue of "This Old House" magazine, which is published ten times a year. "This new video platform is an exciting example of the dynamic partnership between the two leaders for passionate homeowners, 'This Old House,' which is the number one multi-media home enthusiast brand and Home Depot, the world's largest home improvement specialty store," said Eric Thorkilsen, president of "This Old House" Ventures, Inc.
