Home Builder Extends Warranty

Dallas, TX, Apr. 1--Centex Homes, one of the nation's leading residential homebuilders, today announced it will include a two-year fit and finish warranty on new homes it sells. This warranty, which is in addition to a ten year structural warranty (except as otherwise provided in California), is twice today's industry standard for guaranteeing the general workmanship of a home. The two-year fit and finish warranty is a written promise from Centex Homes to buyers that the materials and workmanship used in the building of their homes are free from any covered defects and will meet a high level of performance over the life of the warranty. Coverage automatically transfers to any owner who purchases the home during the warranty's effective dates. "At Centex Homes, we believe we have the best people, systems and procedures in place to build homes right the first time," said Andrew J. Hannigan, chairman and chief executive officer of Centex Homes. "Our customers overwhelmingly agree. In fact, nationwide, more than nine out of ten Centex Homes customers would recommend us to friends and family. But that's not good enough. We think that doubling our fit and finish warranty reinforces our commitment to industry-leading customer satisfaction." Previously, people who purchased a home from Centex Homes or one of its subsidiary brands received a one-year warranty on covered items of materials and general workmanship, referred to as "fit and finish." This one-year warranty, backed by the Western Pacific Mutual Insurance Company (except in California where it is backed by Centex Homes), is effectively being extended with a second year of coverage backed by Centex Homes.
